#FREESOLO tells its very own story - both in terms of musical structure and expression - of the development from autocracy to competition and anarchy to collaboration. Musically, this is realized using various improvisation techniques from solo to group improvisation as well as recompositions of classical solo concertos such as Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's Violin Concerto, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante or Béla Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra.
The composer, pianist and improviser Noam Sivan develops new improvisation methods and the compositional concept for #FREESOLO together with the musicians of the Stegreif Orchestra as its composer in residence, which is transformed into a moving concert performance by the director Tristan Braun. The boundaries between composition and improvisation, between musicians and visitors are consistently broken down.
